Happy Valentine’s Day! Let’s Share the Love…
Here are 14 meaningful ways people can share their love and show care for Valentine’s Day, inspired by themes of holistic wellness, positivity, and intentional living:
1. Give the Gift of Time
For me, the gift of time has always been the most precious gift. Let’s honor it! Plan an intentional activity that aligns with the interests of your loved ones, such as a nature walk, yoga session, or a creative project. Quality time means more than material gifts. For self-love, spend some time doing something you love like reading a favorite book, sitting by the fire with your favorite cup of tea, or going on a gratitude walk where each step you take you thank God for a quality or strength he gave you or something you are grateful for. Get deep, be creative!
2. Prepare a Nourishing, Plant-Based Meal Together
Cook a plant-based meal with or for your loved ones, focusing on whole, vibrant ingredients. Sharing a meal not only nurtures the body but also fosters connection and togetherness. If your you’re alone this year then put on some music, dance around the kitchen, and prepare a healthy meal to show your body and mind the love it deserves. What a way to thank God for the bodies he gave you and your loved ones but keeping yourself and your family healthy!
3. Write a Heartfelt Letter
Take time to express your feelings in a handwritten letter. Share specific reasons why you appreciate the person and how they’ve impacted your life. A thoughtful note can be a cherished keepsake that demonstrates your love on a deeper level. For self-love, write yourself an uplifting love letter, tuck it away, and mail it to yourself when the time is right, giving yourself the warm-fuzzies.
4. Create a “Gratitude Jar”
Fill a jar with notes of gratitude or reasons why you love and appreciate the person. Invite them to pull out a note whenever they need a reminder of your care and admiration. Of course, for self-love, create one for yourself!
5. Practice Random Acts of Kindness Together
Spread love outward by volunteering, donating, or performing small acts of kindness, such as leaving uplifting notes for strangers or surprising someone with a small gift. I always say that loving others, especially when that love is received well, fuels the love within the your own soul.
6. Gift Sustainable or Homemade Items
Offer gifts that reflect eco-conscious values, such as handmade crafts, a potted plant, or reusable goods. These thoughtful gestures demonstrate love for both the person and the planet. Or, get creative just for yourself by starting a sketch journal or paint yourself a picture. We are ALL artists!
7. Share a Mindful Moment
Engage in a meditative or spiritual practice together, such as guided meditation, prayer, or a gratitude ritual. These moments of shared stillness can create a deeper emotional bond. For self-love, light a candle for each of your loved ones, including yourself, and set your intentions for your personal meditation or spiritual practice.
8. Plan a Surprise for Self-Care
Show your care by organizing a self-care experience, like a relaxing spa day, an aromatherapy session at home, or a cozy night in with their favorite books or movies. You can certainly share a joint self-care day with your loved ones or a solo self-care day!
9. Support Their Wellness Journey
Offer a gift or experience that aligns with their wellness goals, such as a subscription to a mindfulness app, a book on holistic living, or joining a class together, like yoga or cooking. Don’t forget to love on yourself by supporting your own wellness journey!
10. Create a Personalized Playlist
Compile a playlist of songs that hold special meaning for your relationship or remind you of the person. Sharing music is a heartfelt way to evoke memories and emotions. Don’t forget to create a new one for yourself! Try including some love songs!
11. Share Words of Affirmation
Take a moment to verbally express your love, admiration, or gratitude. Sometimes, simply hearing “I see you,” “I appreciate you,” or “I’m proud of you” can be the most meaningful gift. Instead of texting your loved ones, try picking up the phone to hear their voice and let them hear yours, or send an old-fashioned letter or card in your own hand-writing and drop it in the snail-mail.
12. Plan a Digital Detox Day Together
Spend the day fully present with your loved one by setting aside phones and devices. Engage in meaningful conversations, play games, or simply enjoy each other’s company without distractions. Or spend a quiet hour alone with bathing in God’s love.
13. Plant Something Together
Whether it’s starting an indoor herb garden, planting starter seeds indoor for your future spring flowers or outdoor garden, or potting a tree to ready for spring or summer planting, this shared activity symbolizes nurturing love and watching it flourish over time.
14. Gift a Memory-Making Experience
Instead of giving material items, plan an experience that creates lasting memories. It could be a cooking class, a nature hike, a museum visit, or even something adventurous like cross-country skiing, ice skating, or pottery-making. You could also designate a day to yourself with your favorite furry friend!
Valentine’s Day reminds us of the power of love and its ability to create meaningful connections, heal, and inspire. The simple yet thoughtful actions on this list can help you express your appreciation and deepen your relationships while promoting wellness, sustainability, and mindfulness. Whether it’s a small gesture or a shared experience, what truly matters is the intention behind it. This Valentine’s Day, let’s embrace love in all its beauty—caring for others, the planet, and ourselves. After all, love is the most valuable gift we can give and receive.
