Eco-conscious Living Nurse Coaching is being eco-conscious as a way of life and showing concern for God’s Earth as the home we inhabit and our own health and well-being. Eco-consciousness is a state of mind in the awareness of our innate role we have as human beings inhabiting the Earth, and an awareness of how our choices affect the environment. Eco-consciousness is also the awareness that we are connected to all life forms – big and small – and through one main Life Source, God.
Eco-conscious Nurse Coaching uses nurse coaching principles and Ecopsychology (principles of psychology and ecology together) to explore a person’s relationship with the natural environment. It focuses on understanding how the human-environment relationship affects a person’s identity, health, and well-being. We consider cultural, socioeconomic, religious, and demographic factors that influence our decisions in order to shift the mindset towards mapping out a new journey towards eco-conscious health through goal-setting, behavior change, and goal achieving.
Individuals who have a desire to be eco-conscious in their lifestyle can set goals and make choices to reduce their environmental impact and understand the environment’s affect on individual and family health, community well-being, nature, technology, and waste avoidance with the mindset to reuse, recycle, reduce, conserve, or eliminate things. Some of these desires for change or awareness might include eliminating or reducing harsh chemical and dye products, plastics, synthetic fiber, chemically treated clothing and leathers, less fossil fuels, adapting to a whole-food plant-based diet and lifestyle, and water conservation efforts, to name a few.
There is no single answer that fits all when families engage in sustainability efforts, but rather eco-conscious living represents a set of values and beliefs in their households. I understand how busy family households can be. We are often faced with hard decisions and make compromises that make us feel dissociated, guilty, and go against what our core values and ideals truly are regarding sustainability (Munro, 2023c). I would absolutely love to help you align your beliefs with your actions.
“It is in your hands to make a better world for all who live in it.” ~ Nelson Mandela
Eco-grief is real for many people who are experiencing personal environmental loss or who have strong feelings towards climate change and environmental destruction either directly around them or on a global scale. Normal reactions and emotions with eco-grief and environmental loss include: sadness, despair, anger, guilt, fear, longing or yearning, feeling numb or disconnected.
As a Holistic Nurse Bachelorette Board Certified (HNB-BC) through the Holistic Nurses Association and certified in Planetary Health for Nurses through Yale University, I understand the importance of holistically caring for individuals affected by the environment and caring for the planet. Eco-conscious living is a passion of mine.
I have studied and practiced eco-psychology extensively, lovingly integrating that knowledge with nurse coaching principles to help clients on their eco-conscious life journeys. I integrate lifestyle medicine techniques, and positive and hope psychology principles to set and achieve long-term or life-long goals, and bring spiritual and holistic wellness into the Eco-conscious Living Nurse Coaching platform.
